PRAYER

 PRAYER
“Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” (Psalm 5:3)
Many young people don’t believe in the power of prayer. If you believe, you are graced by God. Prayer is the outpour of the inmost heart’s desire to the all powerful God for assistance and guidance. Prayer is the ability to connect oneself to God. This is a powerful linking. The right kind of prayer is ‘listening to what God says or shows us.’ Unfortunately, today, many people want God to listen to their words even without expecting an answer from God.
There are many types of prayer that you can make. You can ask, thank, praise, complain, or even just remain silent. You can pray best when you are silent within yourself. You can listen best when you are ready to learn from God. God has programmed this world and has given you life. He is the intelligent cause for your survival. Therefore, he will surely have the best answer for your life too. You have to trust God for that intervention. Prayer should be “Speak Lord, your child is listening”. However, sometimes we make it, “Listen Lord, your child is speaking.”  Paul prays for his friends in Philippines, “I pray that your love for each other will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in your knowledge and understanding” (1:9). David A. Bednar says, “Prayer becomes more meaningful as we counsel with the Lord in all of our doings, as we express heartfelt gratitude, and as we pray for others.”
Can this be a prayer? Think deeper.
  1. Let me be like the cow dung that is used to ward off evil spirits in some traditional Hindu houses.
  2. Let me be the holy water to ward off unclean spirits.
  3. Let me be a binding agent in building the walls and floor of the houses.
  4. May I be like the bamboo that grows swiftly but never complains when someone cuts for some purpose? May I be useful to others.
  5. Let me be like the bitch that bark violently when her puppies are disturbed. May I have the courage to voice my right and privileges when they are in danger or violated.
